It’s over. I’ve finished. I have completed 30 days plant-based. And pretty successfully if you ask me- only the one slip up with the curry paste.
So, the results.
Firstly, I feel like I have more energy. I don’t feel as sluggish as I used to, and I feel like my body is into more of a routine. Some nights I haven’t slept at all, and it always seems to coincide when I add nutritional yeast to my dinner. I bought this with added B12 because I read that that is the only vitamin vegans can’t get. But I’m not sure if I’ve been getting the portion sizes right and it’s been hitting me with a load of energy. This might just be a total coincidence but just something I’ve noticed.
I mentioned before about having clear skin. It seems that I may have jinx what I previously said about it as the effects haven’t carried on. But that may be to do with the stress of this project!
Weight loss. Something I had imagined would come with eating plant-based. And I believe it has, only very gradually. I haven’t had any scales to be able to weigh myself before or after so I’m only going on memory. But my arms feel slimmer and my waist seems to have trimmed down a bit. This might just be me talking myself into these changes, but I do honestly think its slimmed me.
Overall, I haven’t found the challenge as hard as I thought I was going to. My friends have all commented saying how surprised they are that I haven’t complained once and have stuck to it so well. I was never a big meat eater before, so I guess that helps.
I would 1000 times recommend trying a plant-based diet to anyone. Whether it’s for environmental reasons, health reasons, or just for the challenge. There are so many great substitutes for meat now, it couldn’t be easier.
My journey is over now, and I have loved documenting every part of it. Stayed tuned for the release of my documentary- coming soon!
